Open Shutters Warranty
OPEN Shutters is a brand name of a long established locally owned
company, Australian Timber Shutters. So, when you choose an OPEN
Shutter, you’ve the reassurance that comes with the service and support
of a local manufacturer. We’ve been making shutters locally for the
unique demands of Australian conditions for 20 years. Our experience
and commitment to constant improvements aims to ensure you will avoid
all the frustrations you might encounter with other brands.
Australian Timber Shutters Pty Limited (“ATS”) manufactures the Open
Shutter range of products and is dedicated to innovation, quality,
craftsmanship and customer satisfaction.
In addition to manufacturing superior products, we also offer our customers the following comprehensive Manufacturers Warranty.
Please note that it is the responsibility of ATS’ distributors to
provide you with a Retail Warranty and Care Instructions. The
distributor is also responsible for the type of hardware quoted for
your shutter installation. ATS does not install the product and is not
responsible for any damage to you, your premises or the product due to
faulty or negligent installation.
WHAT WARRANTY APPLIES TO ME?
To determine the Warranty that applies to you, select the relevant Open Shutter range from the following headings.
Open Shutters are a custom made product, supplied and installed to
suit existing applications and all care is taken to ensure the best
result possible.
HOW LONG WILL MY WARRANTY LAST AND WHAT IS COVERED?
All
Open Ultimate and Plantation products which are used internally carry: -
- Five (5) year Warranty on the raw material and workmanship; and
- Five (5) year Warranty on paint finish only. No Warranty on oil, clear and stain finishes.
Open Ultimate products used externally carry: -
- Three (3) year Warranty on the raw material and workmanship; and
- One (1) year Warranty on paint finish
Open Ultimate and Open Plantation are manufactured from Western Red
Cedar, a natural product, which will be effected by environment, use
and maintenance.
All
Open Coastal products which are used internally carry: -
- A five (5) year Warranty on the material and workmanship; and
- No Warranty on custom painted finish
All
Open Lite products, regardless of whether used internally or externally carry:-
- A five (5) year Warranty on the material and workmanship; and
- No Warranty on custom painting
All
Open Metel products which are used internally or externally carry: -
- A five (5) year Warranty on the material and workmanship; and
- No Warranty on custom painted finish
OUR WARRANTY
We warrant this product is free from defects within the following
Acceptable Standard Guidelines: -
- If a defect is visible with the naked eye in natural daylight at a distance of 1.2 metres, it is not acceptable;
- If a defect is not visible with the naked eye in natural daylight at a distance of 1.2 metres, it is acceptable; and
- Colour variations may occur between individual orders and sampling.
- It is expected natural timber products will come with slight
variations to size and finish inherent in the manufacturing process.
Note “defect” means an imperfection, mark, dot, etc.
WHAT IS ATS’ RESPONSIBILITY?
- ATS guarantees that we will repair or replace, at our sole discretion, any parts or items
we deem to be suffering from a defect. ATS, where possible, will repair or replace any
product using identical components. If ATS’ designs and/or styles have been altered or
upgraded, ATS will replace any components suffering from a defect with a part or product of comparable quality and value.
- ATS will endeavour to process any claim made by you and carry out any repair or
maintenance required as quickly as is practicable.
- ATS is not responsible for any transport damage, incidental or consequential damage
caused by accident, neglect, misuse, abuse or commercial use.
WHAT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY?
- All claims under this Warranty must be reported to the place of purchase within seven
(7) days of when the defect is first discovered or reasonably could
have been discovered.You must provide ATS with a reasonable opportunity
to inspect the product before repairs are started. Please note that the
warranty period shall not be extended by any such repair or
replacement.
- You must provide proof of purchase to ATS or its distributor to make any claims under
this Warranty.
- As noted above, ATS does not install the product. It is your
responsibility to pay for our costs related to any travel required to
inspect the product and, if the product is found to be faulty, all
costs associated with the removal and freight of the product to us so
we may carry out any repairs or maintenance required pursuant to this
Warranty. After the product is repaired, you must pay any freight and
reinstallation fees.
- ATS is not responsible for any transport damage, incidental or consequential damage or
damage caused by accident, neglect, misuse, abuse or commercial use of the product
not caused by our own negligence.
- This Warranty will not apply to any orders outside ATS’ recommended specifications.
- Custom painting of these products in dark colours will void the Warranty.
LIMITATION
This Warranty contains the only representations made by ATS to its
customers. All other Warranties and representations whether expressed
or implied by any legislation or otherwise, specifically the Trade
Practises Act 1974 and the Sale of Goods Act 1923, are hereby excluded
to the extent permitted by law.
CUSTOMER SERVICE REGISTER
WHAT IS A CUSTOMER SERVICE REGISTER?
- You must provide ATS with proof of purchase and contact details to obtain the benefit
of this Warranty. If you lose your proof of purchase, you will not be able to make a claim under this Warranty.
- To better assist you, ATS maintains a register of customer details. In the event that a
warranty claim is necessary, your details and proof of purchase are then already available to us.
- Your details must be completed on the form supplied with your Warranty and sent to us
within a reasonable time after the purchase of an ATS product to:

WHAT WILL ATS DO WITH THIS INFORMATION?
- ATS will not sell, rent or disclose any personally identifiable information to third parties
who are not associated with ATS.
- ATS may use your information for marketing purposes and/or
research. The information used may include demographic information that
discloses the types of customers purchasing ATS products, however the
information used will not personally identify you to third parties.
- ATS may use your personal information internally. The information
will be used to ensure this Warranty is fulfilled, but, unless you
instruct ATS otherwise, it may also include using the information to
inform you of new products and services of ATS
